After the Republican defeat in the Spanish Civil War, Perfecto Castro is imprisoned and sent to forced labour in Fuerteventura, where his life is marked forever by captivity, the solidarity of a local family and an impossible love. Decades later, exiled in Argentina, his memories, letters and recollections drive him to return to the island in search of the part of himself he could never leave behind.
